Model Call: Sessilee Lopez
WWD: How did it feel to wear Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” coat at Philip Treacy?S.L.: That was the highlight of everything! In the waiting room, they were like, “You have to sign this release. You’re wearing Michael Jackson’s original clothing, and you can’t tell anyone about it.” It was really emotional, because the first couple of looks weren’t working out, but then, sure enough, I got “Thriller.” I said, “I don’t care if you like this, because I love it and I’m wearing it.”WWD: Was there tight security on the jacket? S.L.: Security backstage was kind of tight in general. At one point, I was standing in the lineup and felt someone caress my back. At first I thought it was somebody from wardrobe, but I turn around, and it’s frickin’ Lady Gaga. She was like, “Oh, my god, you’re wearing ‘Thriller’ — can I try it on?” I was like, “No. I am keeping this on as long as humanly possible.”

Sylvia Plath Narrative: The Regular Girl Who Became a Pop Star Story: Starring Regular Girl Who Became a Pop Star: Written by Nameless Music...

sylviaplathnarrative:

The other day, or the other week, or fortnight, or whatever completely irrelevant measurement of time you want to imagine for this part of the post, I was dicking around in front of the local redbox, using the search function to look for hardcore gay erotica, as I usually do, when I came upon one…

If you don’t think that Gaga’s responses to Die Antwoord were justified, I really don’t know what to say to you. They disrespected her on more than one occasion, even after she asked them to open for her and professed her adoration for them. They were so fixated on disliking her that they included her in their new music video and basically mocked her until she was eaten by a lion. They’re using her to garner more attention for themselves and that’s pretty fucked up, especially since she had said nothing but nice things about them. I guess I’m giving them what they wanted by posting about it, but whatever. I still like their music, but on a personal level to me they’re no better than Perez Hilton.

I mean, even with the mockery of Gaga in the video, I still liked it.
But she honestly has every fucking reason to respond the way she did. She’s tired of being the one that takes the high road, the one that sits back and just takes criticism after criticism and diss after diss without saying one negative thing back, instead praising her bullies. She stuck up for herself, and if you can’t see why that was justified, I feel sorry for you.

I love that the world has seen almost all of Gaga, and it’s really not a big deal. She has breasts and nipples, and there have been many a photo of both of those. Sure, the media covered it because she was a star with her tits out. But she handled it much better than a lot of other stars have. She did not apologize, she just went with it. She didn’t treat her body like some taboo image that is inappropriate and not to be seen by anyone else. Now, her borderline and full-on nudity are much less of a shock and almost natural. There are, of course, people that will always have that knee jerk reaction to an exposed human body and call her trashy, a slut, shameless, disgusting, etc. Hopefully they’ll eventually see past their immediate reaction and actually take some time to appreciate what this fucking woman has to offer us, because goddamnit she has a great amount. I’m not saying her music or her image are both completely flawless or the best of all time. I’m saying that she’s an extremely smart woman with a message. Yes, she is very talented and she puts out good music (sometimes fun, sometimes thought provoking, sometimes empowering), and she is a full on pop star, but that in no way means that she is not smart. She wants the world to be a better place and she puts her money where her mouth is. She realizes how big of an impact she can have on a portion of the world, her fans, and she uses it to better them and make them feel a little higher of themselves. She’s a modern day hippy, with the mind of a genius and the talent of a few of the greats.

The fact that I simply cannot stop listening to Clarity and am in love with every single track makes me infinitely more excited for ARTPOP. Just imagining Gaga’s vocals over Zedd’s beats makes me want to drown myself.
